Kalshi runs on three surfaces: an iOS app, an Android app, and the website at kalshi.com, which has everything the apps have plus a desktop workspace called Kalshi Pro for active traders. The apps cover sign-up, deposits, trading with market and limit orders, positions and withdrawals. A demo account with fake money is available if you want to learn before depositing. If you trade size, the web platform's order book view is the better tool.
Installing
- iPhone: App Store → search "Kalshi" → install. US store.
- Android: Google Play → "Kalshi" → install.
- Web: kalshi.com, same login.
Sign-up asks for personal details and, for US users, a Social Security number; Kalshi may request an ID photo. You must be 18+. Full walkthrough: how Kalshi works.
What the app does
- Browse markets by category; search.
- Buy Yes or No with a market order (fills now) or a limit order (your price, waits).
- See positions, open orders, P&L and settlement history.
- Deposit by card, Apple Pay/Google Pay, bank, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App or crypto; withdraw to the same.
- Build combos (multi-leg sports contracts).
- Set responsible-trading limits.
What's better on the web
Order-book depth, charts, faster order entry, and Kalshi Pro, a multi-panel desktop view for watching several markets at once. The API is also a web-side thing; see Kalshi API.
Demo account
Kalshi's help center has an article on creating and using a demo account: a sandbox with pretend funds on real market prices. It's the right way to learn order types and settlement before risking money, and it's also what the API's demo environment uses.
Kalshi inside other apps
If you'd rather not install anything, Kalshi's contracts are available inside Robinhood, Coinbase and Plus500, with those brokers' fees and narrower catalogues.
Availability by state
The app works nationwide, but sports boards are geofenced where courts have ordered it (Nevada, Michigan, Washington at the time of writing) and location is checked. See legality by state.
